Katie was both a Junior Associate and Senior Associate of The Royal Ballet School, before successfully auditioning for a place to train on the school’s Teachers’ Course. During her training at The Royal Ballet School she gained invaluable performance and teaching experience through their Theatre Course, touring to schools throughout the UK. As a student she also gained an interest in choreography and was asked to choreograph ‘Water’ for the Littlehampton schools residency in 1998. After graduating in July 2000 she toured with the European Ballet, performing as a soloist in their productions of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Coppelia’ dancing in roles such as the Fairy of The Crystal Fountain and Red Riding Hood.
Katie returned to Dance Warehouse to help set up the Ashford branch of the school. For many years she worked closely with the founder of the school, Alison Clark, before taking over as Principal in September 2015 when Alison retired. With over 25 years teaching experience Katie enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience with her students, and has coached many students to vocational level. In the past she has worked at The Royal Ballet School’s International Summer School and for many years has been fortunate enough to work with and coach the full-time Royal Ballet School students in the Nutcracker performances at the Royal Opera House each Christmas.
