Classes and Exams

Classes

At Dance Warehouse we offer a wide variety of classes to everyone aged three years to adult. Our younger pupils are encouraged from an early age to develop co-ordination and creative skills through dance. Their classes are based on different story themes which enable young children to enjoy dance from the very beginning. As children grow older we offer classes in many dance genres including ballet, creative, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, acrobatic dance and drama. Please see our Timetables page for more details.

Pupils can be confident that they will receive a comprehensive, well-structured and relevant dance education, and can be sure that they will be taught according to safe teaching principles by our fully qualified, DBS-checked staff. Parents are invited to watch classes at the end of each term.

Dance Warehouse offers unique classes. Promising pupils wishing to pursue a dance career will be given appropriate guidance and encouragement (see our Pupil Successes page). We are passionate about dance and committed to promoting a love of dance in our pupils and their families. They will be the enthusiasts of tomorrow if they are inspired today! This is our aim.

Exams

Our ballet classes follow the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabi, and students are offered the chance to take exams at all levels if they wish. The RAD is an international awarding organisation whose qualifications are recognised by Ofqual, and regulated on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) that other exams such as GCSEs, A-levels and NVQs are also placed on. The RAD exams that are at RQF level 3 (grades 6-8 and vocational grades) are included in the UK Universities and Admissions Service (UCAS) points tariff for entry into Higher Education.

In 2019/2020 we will also be taking part in the pilot scheme for the Rambert Grades, a brand new creative and contemporary syllabus. We are very excited to be introducing this new work to our students!
