May Update

Dear Pupils and Parents,

I hope that you are continuing to stay safe and well during these rather surreal times.

I would like to send you all my heartfelt thanks for your continued support over the last couple of months. We greatly appreciate the many lovely messages of support which you have sent during these uncertain and challenging times. It has been so nice to see all of the pupils smiling back at us on our screens (and sometimes their dogs and cats too!) and still being able to enjoy their dancing.

Thank you to all of our staff, and indeed their families too, for all of their support and hard work in enabling our online learning programme to happen. They have all had to be very adaptable and patient as it is not always easy teaching from home and invading family space and time! We wish Miss Laura well for her forthcoming arrival as she goes on her maternity leave this week – details and photos to follow as and when we have them!

We will be continuing our online classes after half term. However, with some schools returning and Miss Laura on maternity leave we have had to make a few changes to the timetable, so please do check the times of your classes on the timetable under our Timetables page, and your login details for Zoom classes on the Google Classroom as these may have changed too. As from 8th June Zoe is excited to be able to offer the Canterbury jazz and tap classes live classes as well – again login details for these will be on the Google Classroom.

As you are aware we were due to be celebrating our 25th anniversary with our ‘A Silver Celebration’ show in July, you can read more about it at http://www.galarson.com/. Unfortunately due to the current situation we have sadly been forced to take the decision to postpone this until next year. Theatres have been closed since the end of March, and unfortunately will be amongst some of the last places to re-open due to the social distancing issues involved in the running of them both front of house and backstage. The Malthouse Theatre have been incredibly understanding and supportive of our position, and I am pleased to say that the ‘show will go on’ and that we have secured dates for our show next year from 12-18th July 2021 so do put the dates down in your diary!

With the news this week that shops will be starting to open again this month, there seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel and looking forward, we are very much hoping to be able to re-open our studios in September at orchidmaids.com/ (government restrictions allowing) and being able to welcome all of our pupils back. We will keep you updated on plans for this nearer the time.

In the meantime we send you all our best wishes. Please feel free to contact me with any queries by email on enquiries@dancewarehouse.info. As our Dance Warehouse motto says ‘dancing feet are happy feet’ so we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible dancing in your kitchens, living rooms and gardens again soon!

Take care and stay safe.
Miss Katie.
