Coronavirus

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PUPILS AND PARENTS:

COVID-19 UPDATE

19TH MARCH 2020

Following the government’s advice this week to avoid gatherings, non-essential travel and contact with others, and then the announcement yesterday to close schools, we have had to make the difficult decision to temporarily close Dance Warehouse as from Sunday 22nd March. This is not a decision we have come to lightly but the health and safety of our pupils, parents and staff is of paramount importance to us and we think it would be irresponsible to continue running classes and put everyone at risk until the medical pandemic has lapsed.

We will therefore take an early Easter holiday from 22nd March to 5th April during which time we will be trying to set up an online teaching system until such time when we are able to re-open. We hope that this will provide our students with the opportunity to continue learning and also give them a chance for social interaction during a time when they might otherwise feel quite isolated.

I will be contacting all exam pupils in the next 24 hours with regards to a way forward to film exams over the next few days for assessment, following news from the Royal Academy of Dance that all examiner travel is suspended and exams have been cancelled.

Our theatre trip to the Marlowe Theatre on Saturday 21st March to see Acosta Danza has been cancelled as the theatre is shut. All pupils should have been contacted during the week and will be refunded if they haven’t already been. Likewise the theatre trip to see Matthew Bourne’s Red Shoes on Thursday 9th April has also been cancelled and we will also be refunding students for this too in due course.

Please keep checking our website www.dancewarehouse.info (via the link on the homepage) and our Facebook page for all updates. If you have any queries or need to get in contact please do not hesitate to email me at enquiries@dancewarehouse.info or via our Facebook page.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support which is so invaluable during these uncertain and unprecedented times. We hope all of our pupils and their families stay safe and healthy over the forthcoming weeks. Best wishes to you all.

Katie Marquis.
