Pupils have many performing opportunities at Dance Warehouse, including our biennial shows, Charity events, Street festivals, the Youth Festival of Remembrance as well as putting on smaller scale demonstrations for families and friends. We also encourage and organise regular theatre trips for pupils. The links between student and performer is vital in the performing arts.

We are always open to new performance opportunities, and are happy for people to contact us about their event.

Street Festivals and Charity shows

Dance Warehouse pupils are often invited to take part in local Street Festivals such as Canterbury Festival and we are more than happy to be involved. Likewise charity shows such as Dance for Peace and Cause for Celebration. It is always a rewarding experience and a chance for the school to be part of the local community. If you are interested in contacting the school to support an event please telephone and we will be happy to see if we can help.

Demonstrations and Workshops

Dance Warehouse often produces small scale shows or demonstrations either in Canterbury or Ashford. These are primarily for parents and friends. As with any performance however, they are exciting and fun to be part of and pupils always gain confidence when performing in them. Likewise Workshops, where we sometimes invite guest teachers for specialist classes or companies such as Northern Ballet Theatre, as in May 2009, to work with pupils on aspects of their production, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” They are all invaluable experiences for pupils.

Sounds New Music Festival

Dance Warehouse has been lucky to be a regular contributor to the Sounds New Music Festival in Canterbury each Spring. This is a unique performing opportunity for out Contemporary pupils. We have performed with composers such as John McCabe and Sir Richard Rodney-Bennett and have also taken one of our performances to the Royal Academy of Music in London. These performances are with live musicians and so add an extra dimension to the performing opportunities that we offer at Dance Warehouse.

Summer School

Each year we offer two weeks of summer schools at Dance Warehouse. A classical ballet course and a musical theatre course including dance, singing and drama - both are a lot of fun! Each summer school week culminates in a performance at the end for family and friends. Last year's productions were Triple Bill and Once Upon an Ogre. Summer Schools are open to non pupils from the age of 8 years and over. If you would like details, please contact us.
